Posted - 03/05/2011 : 11:38:32 Hello there, I am hoping to have my second snake in the next few months, a tang milk snake from where I got my bloodred corn, the chap who runs rep shop breeds them and is hoping to have babies ready end of july/august time.
With this being my first milk snake am getting myself prepared, I know there are issues with musking and biting until they settle in, is there anything else i should be aware of?
Thank you. |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 14:28:42 Well I just collected my boy today and had a good chat with the breeder about the size of her hondos. Most of hers it would appear are over 5ft.
The parents of mine are 6.5ft (male) and 6ft (female). From this I will allow for the possibility that my boy could end up quite big. Time will tell. |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 14:12:07 It maybe rare but one should be prepared and know just incase it does get that big. Ive only seen things were people say their hondos are 5ft - 6ft normally of which some caresheets also back up but, then there are others that say 4-5ft so I guess they vary a lot. |

Posted - 06/05/2011 : 12:11:34 7ft hondos are very rare and not the norm, so I wouldnt really be planning on getting housing to suit a snake that size just yet.
A decent guide is by asking Ryan what size the parents are and you can go by that, really dont see then much bigger than 4-5ft commonly |

Posted - 06/05/2011 : 11:15:53 Well I've plenty of time to see if i can find rubs larger than 145L, see for me i just don't have the space in my home for vivs (and yes i have looked at the dimensions) |

Posted - 06/05/2011 : 11:01:02 Ok, going by the internal dimensions here:
http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/onlineshop/rub/b145_0litre.php
A 145L rub is only 2.5 ft long x just over 1.5ft wide and only 1.5ft high. That's not enough floor space is it??
I Personally would not be happy keeping a 7ft snake in that.
Oh and a 7ft snake is pretty big to me and I'm 5ft 8 inches tall lol
As already said, chances are it wont hit anywhere near 7ft but after looking at the rubs I am actually pretty surprised at how small the 145L is. I never looked at the internal dimensions before |

Posted - 06/05/2011 : 10:42:58 Well if my tang milk snake does reach 7ft then im sure it will be perfectly happy in a 145l rub and lou 7ft is not huge massive, now 15ft thats massive lol |

They are gorgeous!
As said, my king trashes it's rub all the time and very cleverly piles everything up into his water bowl!
Also poos all over the place, often in his water bowl.
