Posted - 25/08/2011 : 18:10:34 Ive been given a king snake i posted a photo of it. It has a 4 x 1.5 viv and the snake is 3.5 foot long. It has a 13watt 11" X 11" heat mat some logs and some sawdust, i was told to feed it a pinky mouse every week. I went to my local reptile shop, i was advised to buy a thermostat some new substrate and i got 10 medium mouses. so i thought i would feed my new snake the first time ive ever fed a snake. It was outstanding very fast nearly wet myself certainly made sure it was dead. I can handle the snake fine which is nice, anyway i found this site and i want to make sure i can look after the snake properly since ive never kept one. |

Posted - 26/08/2011 : 08:22:45 change the substrate to aspen. Much safer for your snake. Also as said a pinkie is far too small a feed for a snake that big. Feeding snakes is awesome. Im glad you enjoyed the experience xxxx |

Posted - 25/08/2011 : 21:44:22 yeah my local rep shop has a award for the best shop 2011 or 2010. Yeah the snake came with sawdust that you would put in a rabbits cage. |

Posted - 25/08/2011 : 20:01:55 Sawdust? as in like the stuff rabbits are on? That's a big no as it has pine, do you man aspen by any chance? And a pinky sounds way too small for a 3ft+ snake, I would have thought mediums/large. Glad you had fun watching him munch though! |
