So i have a Mexican Black King Snake, I bought it about a month ago and did all the settling in thing, and ended up treating it for mites.

Anyway, its only about 5 month old but it very very bitey. I get bit quite a lot and she really doesnt want to let go. This doesnt bother me to much as it doesnt hurt.

Infact about 10 mintutes before writing this it latched on to my little finger and would not let go, even started constricting me, i got it off with the water on the head trick, but it had tied itself in a knot. It was genuinely in a knot, i had to untie it!

I know it "should" tame down eventually, and some days i dont get bit at all, but then it gets me like 4 times the next day :P

Any tips on taming it down?
Is this typical King Snake behaviour?

Thanks
Daryl

Yeah Mort's done that too, suddenly bitten and tried to eat my thumb. He hasnt done it in a long time, i didnt put him back in his viv when he'd bitten either, held him after id washed my hands. That seemed to work.
He does just seem like a typical king .... Just suddenly noms the nearest thing lol.

Just keep up with regular handling and they should eventually calm.

Had ours in Feb and it took him until August to not bite us and let us get him out the vivarium.

I've heard the sock trick works too :)

try the scent trick....carry a sock on you for 24/48 hours and pop it in the housing. This should hopefully help the snake get used to your scent xxx

ahaha, a complex ?
yeah my king had a vendetta against me..
i held him daily, he hasn't got me since after a week and a half.

This is very much so hatchling king behaviour its small and afraid of larger things like us, or its got a complex and trying to eat you, just keep doing with what you are doing and it should calm down for you.
