3) how much would you expect to pay?

I think you can safely say that it is a Lampropeltis mexicana ssp.. The mexicana complex is quite a mess in terms of visual identification, especially the thayeri and greeri. It certainly looks like mex-mex to me, San Luis Potosi.

It's nice whatever it is. I like the dark colouration

Fair price to pay then. From the picture, I'm going to say Female, As the tail looks to long to be a male. Long shot! Let us know what sex he/she is.

Think we're safe to say it's a San Louis Potosi. And Regarding price, hatchlings are going for £70-100. So an Adult, depending on sex. Your talkin £100. Saying that, with the dark shading, you may have to think about that. Are you planning on selling, or are you seeing if you went wrong when you bought it!?

Hi Brookestar,

San Louis Potosi's as far as I'm aware they only reach 2-3ft max. Regarding the darkness, I don't actually know. Could of just been in the genetics somewhere, I don't usually deal with Kings, many Milksnakes. But i'm pretty certain is either a San Louis Potosi (l.mexicana) or a Durango (Which is the same species of from the Variable l.m.mexicana just an other sub-species).

Here's a San Louis Potosi Kingsnake (Second Picture looks very similair);

And a Durango Mountain Kingsnake;

I'd personally go with L.m.mexicana (San Louis Potosi/Mexican Kingsnake).

Hope that helps,
Scott

just looked at a picture of the san louis potosi king and it is very similar indeed. so the darkness is age?

how come he so small still ... are they just a smaller king?

Hi There,

Whatever Species/Sub-Species, he/she is quite an age

Well if anyone's going to be able to tell you, it'll be Scott.

Hi There,

Whatever Species/Sub-Species, he/she is quite an age. Before I go on putting my two pennies worth in, some more photos would be a huge advantage, from above more so.

My gut feeling is a San Louis Potsi Kingsnake (L.m.mexicana).

More Pictures, Better Light would be a huge advantage.

Scott
