Hello to everyone, I adopted a king snake this summer complete with viv, heat mat etc. The temperatures I was getting in the summer were between 25-30 degrees centigrade( at warm end.) Now winter is on us the temperatures are considerably lower, roughly sitting around the 25 degree mark (mat temperature) proving the current mat isn't up to the job. I want to get a new heat mat but am unsure which wattage and best brand to get for my viv which is 3 feet long by a foot wide. I have a thermostat in place to conrtol the heat source and was also wondering if stick on mats are any good? I appreciate any advice from anybody as I'm used to normally using ceramic heat bulbs as a heat source for my bearded dragons. Many thanks Kev
The heat mat should cover 3rd to half the viv , I would say your looking a 30 ish hot end , I have a 40w light for my corn for day time with heat mate and just the mat for night. The light is on a timer 12 on 12 of . My king just has a mat as he is only a baby still and when I upgrade to a viv I will be getting the same set up for him.
Thanks a lot grant, I did read that about the mat size on a care sheet. I shall get one that size. I currently have a 12 watt installed so will maybe raise it to a 20.
